2010 MPtHA Youth Year-End Awards Program

1. To be eligible to participate in the MPtHA Youth Year End program, the Youth must be a member of the Minnesota Pinto Youth. Points will not count until dues have been paid. Please remit membership information, including birth date and appropriate fees to the membership person on the contact page on the official MPtHA Membership form, or turn in at show office.

2. Points to be calculated on Minnesota YA (Youth) classes that are ROM approved by the National Pinto Office. Exceptions to this rule will only apply to Youth Lead-Line and Youth Walk-Trot as they are point-earning youth classes for MPtHA.

3. All points to be computed on one Youth exhibitor/pinto combination in all divisions. Award will be per exhibitor/pinto combination.

4. In the case of a tie, the youth exhibitor/pinto combination winning the most 1st place awards will prevail and if a tie still exists, 2nd place awards will prevail, etc.

5. Youth/Pinto combination must exhibit in at least 50% of Minnesota point earning shows to be eligible for an award in the Youth Year-End Awards Program.

6. All Divisions will be awarded to 6th place.

7. Divisions 2-4 (Walk-Trot) are intended for those Youth just getting started showing. Walk-Trot exhibitors may not cross enter in Leadline classes. If a crossover occurs during the year of a rider from Walk-Trot classes to Walk-Trot-Canter classes, awards will only be awarded in the division requiring higher competence. If a crossover should occur, Youth/Pinto combination must exhibit in at least 50% of point earning shows in a Walk-Trot-Canter class during the year to be eligible for an award.

8. Division 9-36 will be combined for an Overall High Point and Reserve High Point Awards for 13 & Under and 14-18. The remained of the top 6 overall winners will also be recognized in the two age divisions.

9. Point system will be 6 points for 1st place in a 6 entry or more class, 5 points for 1st place in a 5-entry class, etc. In Walk-Trot, Leadline, and Novice, if there is only one exhibitor, he/she will receive 1 point. If there are only 2 exhibitors, 1st place will receive 2 points and second place will receive 1 point.

10. If a class is held 3 times split or combined in a way not appearing on the published show bill, the award will be made as the split or combined class was held. If the class is split or combined 2 times or less, the award will be made as the class is published in the show bill. If a class is conducted at only 1 show, there will be no year-end award for that class.

11. Youth miniature high point award will be awarded to the Youth/Mini Pinto combination excelling in the following classes: YA Pony/Mini Reinsmanship 18/U, YA Pony/Mini Pleasure Driving 18/U, YA Pony/Mini Trail In Hand 18/U, YA Mini Halter 18/U, YA Pony/Mini English Showmanship 18/U and YA Novice English/Western Showmanship 18/U.

Special Year-End Awards

1. Pinto Youth Promotion AwardMinnesota Shows: Copies of show bill must be submitted to the designated Youth Advisor by October 1 annually. The show bill must state number of entries in class and placing earned. These are in-state shows such as WSCA, 4-H, State Fair and other Breed Shows. The Youth must be exhibiting a registered Pinto. Youth members eligible for this award must also show at two (2) MPtHA Shows.

2. Pinto Youth Promotion Award – Out of State Pinto Shows: Copies of each show bill must be submitted to the designated Youth Advisor by October 1 annually. The show bill must state number of entries in the class and the Youth’s placing. The Youth must be exhibiting a registered Pinto. Only Youth classes are eligible. For the Pinto World Show and Congress only the final judges placing will be eligible. Youth members eligible for this award must also show at two (2) MPtHA Shows.

3. Participation Trophies – Minnesota Pinto Youth members exhibiting in a Youth class will receive a participation award if he/she did not receive any other trophy for year-end in any of the 36 award divisions. The award will be graduated depending upon exhibition in 1, 2, 3, or 4 shows, with exhibiting in four (4) shows having the award with the most monetary value of the four participation levels.

4. Ocker Awards - Traveling trophy presented to the Youth/Pony combination earning the most combined points in Youth and Pony ROM classes at year-end. Donated by the Nystrom Family in honor of "My Ocker Paint.” The Youth Advisor (s) administers the Award.

5. Youth Rookie of the Year – A special award to be given to the MPtHA Youth member that meets the following criteria:

· Applicant may not have shown in any ROM class at a PtHA approved show that required a canter prior to the current show season.

· Applicant may not have competed and/or earned points in any PtHA approved outcross breed show in an event that required a canter prior to the current show season.

· Applicant must attend and compete in at least two or more Minnesota Pinto shows during the current season.

· Each applicant will chose up to 4 (four) Youth ROM classes from which all MPtHA points will accumulate for the season, with the Rookie of the Year title/award being presented at the MptHA Banquet to the applicant with the highest point total from the chosen events. Once the classes have been chosen the competitor may not change or substitute an event. Classes may include YA showmanship or YA performance ROM classes only; no halter classes are permitted. Exhibitor must complete an official Rookie of the Year application, including parent/guardian signature. Application deadline is October 1st annually.

6. John R. Morgan Memorial Trophy – This trophy will be a traveling trophy in memory of John R. Morgan, donated by his daughter Cheri J. Morgan. Mr. Morgan was instrumental in Dutch Creek Farms, a business centered on breeding and showing top quality Pinto Pleasure Type Horses. The trophy is awarded on an annual basis to the MPtHA Youth member showing a Pleasure Type horse and earning the highest number of points in the Youth (18 & under), and Open Division combined. The Youth is not required to show in both divisions. This is a One Horse/ Youth Handler Combination award. A Youth, if meeting the criteria of this award, may be the recipient more than once. The award will be presented annually at the Year End Award Banquet for MPtHA. Please see details on the MPtHA website.

Other Youth Awards

· PtHA Youth Champion – Upon receiving written notification from PtHA that a current MPtHA youth member has earned the title of "PtHA Youth Champion,” the youth member (or his/her family/parents) must provide a copy of the written notification to a MPtHA Youth Advisor. A special award sponsored by MPtHA Youth Team will be presented at the next annual Awards Banquet to the PtHA Youth Champion recipient, provided the written information was given to a Youth Advisor by October 1.

· PtHA Youth Legion of Merit – Upon receiving written notification from PtHA that a current MPtHA youth member has earned the title of "PtHA Youth Legion of Merit,” the youth member (or his/her family/parents) must provide a copy of the written notification to a MPtHA Youth Advisor. A special award sponsored by MPtHA Youth Team will be presented at the next annual Awards Banquet to the Youth Legion of Merit recipient, provided the written information was given a youth advisor in a timely manner. The Youth may submit and article to the Editor of MPtHA’s e-newsleter "ON the Spot” pertaining to his/her pinto and the Youth Legion award for publication. This is the responsibility of the Youth member. A copy of the Legion of Merit certificate must be provided to a Youth Advisor by October 1.

· PtHA Youth Supreme Championship – Upon receiving written notification from PtHA that a current MPtHA Youth member has earned the title of "PtHA Youth Supreme Champion,” the Youth member (or his/her family/parents) must provide a copy of the written notification to a MPtHA Youth Advisor. A special award sponsored by MPtHA Youth Team will be presented at the next annual Awards Banquet to the Youth Supreme Champion recipient, provided the written information was given a youth advisor in a timely manner. The youth may submit an article to the Editor of MPtHA’s e-newsletter "On the Spot” pertaining to his/her pinto and the Youth Supreme Champion award for publication. This is the responsibility of the Youth member. A copy of the Supreme Champion certificate must be provided to a Youth Advisor by October 1.

· PTHA Youth Superior Performance – Upon receiving written notification from PtHA that a current MPtHA Youth member has earned the title of "PtHA Youth Superior Performance, " the Youth member (or his/her family/parents) must provide a copy of the written notification to a MPtHA Youth Advisor. A special award sponsored by MPtHA Youth Team will be presented at the next annual Awards Banquet to the Youth Superior Performance recipient, provided the written information was given to a Youth Advisor in a timely manner. The youth may submit an article to the Editor of MPtHA’s e-newsletter "On the Spot” pertaining to his/her pinto and the Youth Superior Performance award for publication. This is the responsibility of the Youth member. A copy of the Superior Performance certificate must be provided to a Youth Advisor by October 1.
